Bummed to hear of the passing of Sherman Hemsley, who played one of my all-time favorite sitcom characters, former Navy boxer turned laundry king George Jefferson. He didn’t take shit from any honkies — Archie Bunker, Tom Willis, Mr. Bentley and Ralph the doorman were his favorite punching bags — but he proved to be a sweet guy, too.
